Forum: GratefulDead Subject: A Moment of Clarity...yet another reason why

Pardon my babble, please feel free to move on to the next thread, I wont be hurt.

This has been a rough couple of weeks at work. I was given a rather large project that others had passed on. I quickly discovered why. Without going into boring detail, suffice it to say that it was a conundrum, wrapped in an enigma, coated in confusion. I spent many, many hours trying to work out the various issues, trying to tie everything together and come up with valid solutions. It seemed I had reached an impasse and the frustration began to build. As my wife can attest I began to "bring my work home with me" and I have not been a very pleasant person. Well, that all changed this morning. As I began my trek to work, I landed on 10/31/1979, set 2. As Jerry weaved a tapestry of incredible beauty in the absolutley mesmerizing Estimated/Eyes, a feeling of tranquility and harmony washed over me. The smile that grew ever larger on my face was an outward representation of the total joy and peace my inner-self was engulfed in. In that moment, the stress and frustration I had been feeling for 2 weeks melted away and I felt suspended by invisible wires of pure sonic perfection. And it was then that it was like a light turned on and I realized exactly what I needed to do to resolve the project at work. Through whatever magic that comes from this music, whatever soothing powers that Jerry was able to inject into your very soul, that moment where I was taken into the music, where I stopped thinking of work, where the only thing that mattered was what came out of my little car stereo, my brain was freed to see what was really a simple solution to my issues.

Thanks, Jerry, you proved yet again why I spend so much time listening to this amazing body of work that you were so generous to leave us.

OK, I just needed to get that out of the way. Oh, if you, too, are experiencing some stress or tension for any reason, by all means let this Estimated/Eyes show you the way out:

Sounds like a "once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right" moment. Good to hear you turned the corner on that conundrum.

UPDATE:
It seems that the effects of the morning's "revelation" have indeed provided the needed inspiration to resolve my "issues" here at work. Project has been completed and received a more than positive response from the powers that be. Looks like Jerry has saved the day yet again.

Looks like I can go home and give the wife a good ol' "And you said nothing good could come from listening to this stuff. Ha!"

On the other hand, that might not be such a good idea.

a top5 '79 show (for me), and probably my favorite shakedown; definitely got a thorough listen more than once at the brokedown back in the day, as wharf & elbow can well attest to

I'm working from home today, so I'm going to fire up this show just to be sporting. Thanks!

Bob: Now I'd like to remind you all that Halloween is not a legal holiday.

EDIT: Despite some adverse circumstances (some venue-related, some imbibed?) this show absolutely rips from Sailor> Saint right on through the fantastic Wharf> Truckin finale.
